Noah's bug story

Life has gotten almost dull with our little micro preemie. He is 3 years old, wow!

Noah has a pillow pet that is his "sleep pillow". This particular pillow pet is a red and black lady bug also known simply as "Bug". Last night Noah woke up at about 1:30 crying and I had to go comfort him. It seems there was a giant lady bug on his arm and he was scared. I ended up on his floor until 3:45 am, it was not the best nights sleep I have had.

This morning Noah announced that the giant bug was in the middle of the road going bye bye.

Did I mention that our house has a larger than normal number of lady bugs crawling around?

Noah at 3

Our little blessing has grown so big. Everything is new to him this year. He asks "Momma hold my new hand?" and says "My new pants are cween (clean)."

He will tell you that "Finny's not talking" (the dog).

He is a sweetheart.

From littlest to so big in 3 years

How time does fly and children do grow. I cannot believe it has been nearly 3 years since I started this adventure. Through the fear and unknown to the "how will I ever get my work done with Mr. busy body around", the days have simply slipped by.

Noah is almost 3 and he will tell you just that if you ask him.

He is quick on his feet and in his head. His motor and mental skills are just as sharp, if not sharper, than your normal 3 year old. When he turned 2 I remember contemplating whether or not he had caught up to the "curve" our society grades babies on. Now I contemplate how far past it he seems to have gone and how much smarter he is than some of my friends children of the same age group. I understand that all mommies think their child is the brightest and the cutest child they have ever seen; perhaps it is true.

My goal for this post, for anyone who is going through what we have, is to fill a mind and heart that is probably full of fear and uncertainty with hope. Every preemie or extreme preemie must face his or her own challenges but Noah's story of success and joy is only one among thousands of stories that are miraculous. Noah was 1lb. 13 oz. and was born at 24 weeks. He is now an engaging "almost" 3 year old with no known residual health or growth concerns. Have faith... Have hope... Give them love.

Sweet sounds and new words

Noah is 1 year, 8 months, and 23 days old...

I cannot believe how fast time goes by. He had his flu shot a few days ago along with one of his immunizations. I am still having the immunizations done one or two at a time. We go back in November for his Hep B and H1N1 shots. I am nervous about H1N1 but will respect his pediatricians recommendation to get it.

Noah is talking quite a bit these days. Most of his words are still a bit garbled but they get clearer every day. He is particularly vocal during diaper changes and potty chair time. He really loves to say Pee Pee and knows what it means. Doggy is also still a favorite word, it was his first besides mum mum and da da. His motor skills are fabulous, he learns new things quickly. He colors (sloppily) and managed to scribble in pencil in one of my very expensive books. He also loves to play outside.

I can't wait to take him trick or treating and will post a photo of him in his costume as soon as possible.

18 months

I have not been posting very well; not at all these last six months! Noah is doing well.

I almost posted a few months back because Noah had to start seeing an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. We were a little nervous that the result would end in surgery. After consulting with Noah's pediatrician we decided to get a second opinion, from a Children's Hospital ENT. We are on a wait, watch and see agenda with the Children's Hospital doctor as he is not convinced that Noah has what the first doctor thought he had. Noah goes back in a couple of weeks for a check up.

We had his 18 month well visit last week and Noah is 22lbs. and 32 inches. His pediatrician said he is well with in his curve. We go back in a month for a few more shots.

Noah is running! I know I did not post when he started walking, I'm sorry. It only took him a week or so to begin running after he walked and now he does not walk anywhere. He runs all the time.

Did I mention he has gotten big? He doesn't resemble a preemie anymore... He is into everything. He needs to know how things work, how they open and close, what he can do with them.

and how to dive papa's truck....

Noah Spent New Years at Grandmas

We all had a happy new year this year. We went up north to my mom and dads and spent the evening snacking and watching TV. Noah was crawling around making grandpa and grandma happy and proud. Collin had a really good time as well. He spent the evening playing with Peppy and Jake.

More of Noah at Christmas

Noah has been impressing his grand parents with his ability to crawl (fast). He is very curious about the world around him and gets mad when he gets bored with something.

He has three teeth now and is working on a fourth. He is saying mama fairly well and lifts his arms at his high chair when I ask him to.
